Kitchen Renovations Made Easy
Many homeowners suffer from “sticker shock” when it comes to kitchen renovations. “It costs how much?!” is the common response to many estimates.
But what not everybody realizes is that you don’t have to do your entire kitchen renovations all at once if you don’t want to. Sometimes a more economical and practical approach is to do a little at a time according to your own schedule and your specific budget.
One Piece at a Time
For example, let’s say your kitchen needs a top to bottom overhaul, including countertops, cabinets, flooring, and even appliances. All of those things at once are probably going to cost you a pretty penny — especially if you get all the features and elements you want. (After all: How many times are you going to renovate our kitchen? You probably want to do it right so you don’t have to do it again later!)
But you actually don’t have to do it all at once. Instead, you can spread it out over time, absorbing a little of the cost per quarter or per year until it is all complete. For example, in the winter you could replace the flooring; in the spring, the countertops; in the summer, the appliances; and in the fall, the cabinets.
By the end of the year, you have a whole new kitchen without having to go into debt or use all of your savings (or both) to pay for it!
True Convenience
A lot of people opt to renovate their kitchen all at once with the approach of “Why spread out the inconvenience of having your kitchen under construction over time?” Instead, they choose to go without their kitchen for a shorter period of time and get a brand new kitchen faster.
For the rest of us who aren’t the Rockefellers, there’s often the more convenient option of prioritizing your kitchen upgrades and doing them a little at a time. That way you get the kitchen you want without having to worry so much about the cost. Or worse yet, go cheap and get a final kitchen renovation you aren’t happy with.
