Keeping Kitchen Counters Germ-Free
Kitchen counters tend to be one of the dirtiest places in any home. That’s because they are the site of so much activity.
Besides the bathroom, your kitchen is the busiest room in your home. Most family members will use your kitchen at least once per day. So your kitchen counter is ground-zero for crumbs, spills, and germs.
Fortunately, keeping your kitchen counter clean and germ-free is easy. All you need is a couple of everyday household items.
Antibacterial Wipes
The first is a container of antibacterial wipes, such as Clorox wipes or a store brand. Most come in easy to use single-use dispensers that allow you to pull a clean wipe from the top of the container without touching any of the unused wipes.
After using your kitchen counter, wipe it down with a clean cloth to remove any crumbs, spills, or debris. Then simply pull an antibacterial wipe from the dispenser and use it to wipe down the surface to kill any remaining germs.
Disposable antibacterial wipes are designed for single-use only. So you definitely want to throw them away after using them on your kitchen counter. Never use an antibacterial wipe to clean more than one surface because a dirty wipe can actually spread any germs it has picked up to other places.
Use separate, fresh wipes to clean surfaces like sinks, faucets, appliances, and even utensils.
Get into the Disinfecting Habit
Keep your container of antibacterial wipes on your kitchen counter or nearby so that you remember to clean the surface after every use. Get into the habit of using them frequently and encourage other family members to use them as well.
Antibacterial wipes are widely available in most stores, as well as online. Keeping a few extra containers stocked in your pantry or utility room will ensure you always have some when you need them.
