Before Your Renovate Your Kitchen, Do This …

A kitchen renovation is a big step. Not only can it cost a lot of money, but you probably are going to have to live with the decisions you make for a very long time.

So you probably don’t want to rush into a kitchen renovation until you think long and hard about what you want. Should you include marble or granite countertops? Should you upgrade your appliances? What about flooring? New lighting? Cabinet colors?

The best thing to do before starting any kitchen renovation is to stop, think about what you want, and plan everything out ahead of time in as much detail as possible. Here’s how to get started.

Do Your Research

Gathering ideas for your kitchen renovation is the first of many steps toward getting the dream kitchen you have always wanted. Go to your local bookstore and find a few magazines on kitchen design. Visit the most popular websites like Pinterest and others that specialize in kitchen design ideas. Google things like “kitchen ideas” or “best kitchen cabinet ideas”.

When you are visiting the homes of friends and family members, pay special attention to their kitchens. What things do you like about them? What do you dislike? Take notes or even photos if you want so you can remember the features to include or exclude in your kitchen renovation.

Go to home improvement stores and “window shop”, taking the time to look at the latest designs of cabinets, appliances, flooring, wall colors, and everything else that goes into a kitchen redesign.

Create a Timetable

It’s easy to get stuck in the planning and research stage. So put a time limit on how long you spend thinking about your kitchen renovation before acting: A month, three months, half a year.

Whatever you decide, when the time period has expired sit down and put all your best ideas together. Then call Mr. Kitchen.

We can take all the design features you want and include them in a plan to create the kitchen you will love.
